Im not a hoarder

I am in no way making fun of real hoarders...I do realize this is a serious mental illness. I am just saying that for some of you reading this blog, you might just think I am one. But I'm not..Really..Im not..

This is my attic...my storage room...the room where all the stuff goes that I'm not using at the moment...or this week..or this month..and actually..quite possibly..never..but here is that room...Mom...dont look..

I made up my mind, this long holiday weekend, I was going to do something about this mess...

And therefore, the fun began....

And went on...and on and on.....

Anyway, we did it ...Bob and I...

We got that mess straightened out and semi organized...just look...

It took a long time but I am so happy with the results...

Do you like this cradle.? This is actually one of my most treasured items that I have. This was hand made by my Grandmothers Uncle George for ME when I was a baby. I slept in this cradle..My son slept in this and so did my grandchildren. It is not safe by any of today's standards. The slats are perfect for getting a little arm stuck. Therefore we always used a bumper pad. Also this cradle is only for newborns. It can tilt easily if much weight or movement is involved.. So only for a few short weeks and with close supervision can this be used. But it will get passed on to the grandchildren for those precious few weeks when they have their own children. Most likely just to snap a photo and then to pass the cradle on to the next generation as long as it lasts.
So please don't think I am just about the messiest grandma on the planet. Really I'm not..I'm just busy...
Are you ever messy? Tell me.
And that means you too Oklahoma Granny with no junk drawer....

Me

Jezebel

What do you want for Christmas this year? Do you remember your favorite present of all?

Do you remember the best Christmas ever??!

Do you remember that one present that gave you many years of nightmares??!!! No?? Well I do...

Meet..

Jezebel...

She lives at my Grandmas house...Not with me..Because I have been scared to death of this doll since 1964...That is how old she is and when she came into my life one hopeful Christmas morning.....The year I was 5..I came down the stairs to this!!!!.

The eyes!! She was just the same size I think as I was at that time..I cried...I really did...She was scary....I disliked this doll so much I named her Jezebel..The bad woman in the bible..I knew that name was perfect for this ..this...monster doll!

At night, when I tried to sleep, there she sat..watching..waiting...Patiently and silently she sat until I went to sleep, and then she could terrorize me in my dreams...or nightmares..She was always coming for me. So many times I would hide under the blanket and peer out and see those eyes as she sat there in my bedroom..Sometimes I would cover her with a sheet. Finally...I just hid her in the attic space. I think my grandmother got her out and some kids that visited played with her as the years passed on ...Then she went into the attic space..

At some point through time, my grandmother got her out and sat her back in the upstairs bedroom..She has endured the passage of many years, but her hair was falling out and whatever dress she arrived in was then gone..

A couple of years ago when I went back for a visit, my Dil and I decided to give Jezebel a makeover..We bought her a dress, sandals, socks and a hat....My fears have subsided through the years..My grandmother and I even talk about Jezebel like she is a member of the family..My grandmother thinks I should rename her. But I never have..

So I propped her up at the dining room table before I left my grandmas this trip...She will sit there for awhile then I'm sure she will go back upstairs and sit on the chair until I return later..
One day I look for Jezebel to come live at my house on Peebly Road...And I suppose I will welcome her in. Just like family..
Even tho she is going upstairs first thing...

More camera fun

We have had a lot of fun with the wildlife camera. Its interesting to see just what kind of creatures are walking around in your woods...

Sometimes its very surprising.....

And sometimes....You might just get Emma with her Poppa.....

Or father and son checking on things...It always makes me laugh to see how concerned and interested they are about the camera.

Do you have a camera like this? What kind of things do you see?
Tell me.

Next stop..the Ponderosa

This was our last stop...The valley where my sister in law and her family live. She can look from her house down upon the houses in which her children and father in law and other relatives reside.

Its a wonderful place to live....They are really great people. These are her children..Now grown..

And we busted in right in the middle of lunch!!

This is her grandson....Here he is when Mickey and I first arrived ...He was shy for Oh about 3 minutes...Then he was talking and playing with Bob and laughing...

Hes very smart...And very cute....

This is Casey...My sister in laws dog. I could not stop taking pictures of this dog...

He was just too darn interesting..and silly....and lovable...

And photogenic...seriously..

She also has a horse named Twister. A beautiful horse..Very friendly...

And then....

we have Penelope...
Penelope has been here about a week or so...She was adopted by SIL and was told that Penelope had "issues". Turns out, from what I saw, those issues are none other than self protection..Well...maybe to a drastic measure but I'm sure its a survival tactic. Meaning..don't turn your back on Penelope. Or else you will get butted!!!!!

We were there about 10 minutes when the first incident occurred. My sister in laws dog had its head in a box, and from nowhere here comes Penelope and butts him hard!! Casey, the dog, looks up and the first thing he sees is me! He doesn't know me from Adam, and immediately assumed I did it! It took me about an hour to make up to him after that .. And then once I did, he knew I couldn't have done that to him...

The valley has many deer...This is right outside the house....

My sister in laws daughter has a few Weimaraners of her own... They are show dogs. Very well mannered and trained...Bob is wondering just what this is all about...He never has to mind at his house...Well that's not exactly true but he is not trained like these dogs are...just look.....

All this for a treat? Are you kidding me? I'm Bob...I just look cute...I get treats without the work.
Every single time I come here, I don't want to leave. They make sure I get my yearly dose of
http://www.myoip.com/ subs. Yeah, I know its a chain, but its good...My sister in law and her family also make sure I get every potato chip made in Pennsylvania. They are just terrific... We all gather round the table and talk and eat and just catch up on what everyone is doing. Sadly, its never long enough.
The next morning, we got up before the sun and prepared to head back to Oklahoma.
Sometimes I wonder why we continue to live so far away from the people we love so much..
But our life is in Oklahoma right now. We have our own small family, our business, our place. At least we get to visit yearly...

Me

Next ... Nannys house

Anyone that still has their Grandmother..Call them now...please... Tell them how much they mean to you and how they have influenced your life.

Grandmothers are special people...I thank my lucky stars at 50 years old, I still have my Grandma....

So...after leaving my Moms, we headed to my Grandmas house..

My Nanny...

Who was having a birthday.......

One that I would not have missed for anything....

We had the best time....

And for some reason...Bob thought it was ok to get on Nannys table at one point. I can assure you, that NO that was not allowed in this house..no way...but I snapped a quick picture, asked him what in the world he thought he was doing...and promptly got him down..Nanny, thankfully, was taking a nap...whew!!!

We had 22 people for her party....I love being with her and staying at her house...Its home to me...

I had emailed the local newspaper and had them put an article in requesting a card shower. She had over 50 cards at last count...

Ok..Here's the scoop on Lebanon bologna for those who never had it...

And chicken corn soup...I will make some soon and post the recipe for you...Its simple and great..

Ok next week I will be talking about the rest of our trip...Which includes, a goat..a horse and some weimaraners http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weimaraner ...Oh and another sweet little boy..Evan.

More later...

And we continued on our trip

After leaving my mother in laws we headed south. We headed to this house..

My Mommys house...!

Bob was warmly welcomed here. After all, my mother is a daily reader of my blog and was super excited to meet Bob.

So was Jim....

My Mom asked if we were hungry, and of course we said YES!

She had a pot of chicken corn soup on the stove...I'm just assuming the whole world eats this and knows exactly what I'm talking about. If not..let me know

She also made us Lebanon bologna sandwiches...

YES ...we were definitely in Pennsylvania...This is home food...

And guess who else was there...? My brand new nephew, born on my birthday!!!

I could not get enough of this baby. Just look at the sweet face! He is such a good natured adorable boy...My little sister is so proud of this baby..
She just beamed the entire time. Who wouldn't be? Hes picture perfect. I thought I had plenty of room in the car to take him back to Oklahoma with me, but they didn't seem keen on that idea. I just cant imagine why...
I'm so happy my sister is a grandmother.

So we visited, ate and talked. I heard later that Bob had been outside chasing stray cats away. I didn't know it until after the fact...That could be the reason for this behavior in the picture.

Tuckered out...

Then it was time to move on.

More later.

The doctor says I have poison. I'm guessing I got it when I was raking leaves at my mother in laws? I don't know...but steroids and a round of antibiotics are what the Dr ordered....

Love,

me

No post today

Are you going to tell the rest of the stories about our trip, Mommy?

Not today Bob..

Why am I not blogging today? Well I AM blogging but not the usual stuff...

The answer is because I have horrible red welts and bumps all over my body....And Im miserable..They are itchy and driving me nuts. Even so, I am at work. My face looks like...well red and bumpy..I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning..I'll let you know what she says...I would show you a picture but its just too creepy...really.... Besides I like this one of Marley much better...Marley really missed me while I was away. She stayed home and spent a few days with the Grandones at their house...She was very happy there, I hear.

I took over 400 pictures on our trip...I cant wait to share...This camera is a big part of my life these days...I love it..

Ok I will be back in form soon...I promise..

Me
